Check out the latest buzz about Sunday night’s big game - no, not the Super Bowl, but our Talkies awards!

In honor of the Talkies this Sunday, this week’s Things We Love is all about the Super Bowl.
Debbie loves Super Bowl ads with animals in them – I am a sucker for any type of TV spot with an animal in it. And the Super Bowl never disappoints. Word has it that Anhauser Busch may dedicate 3 of its 9 spots to the Clydesdales. Good move AB. And I’m sure Pedigree’s new 1st time Bowl spot won’t disappoint either. Dogs rule!
Holly loves SuperBowlTalkies.com – I may be a little biased, but the website Talk launched this week promoting the 2nd Annual Talkies Awards is pretty awesome. It is a one-stop-shop for everything related to Super Bowl commercials including YouTube videos, blog postings, polls and even a live chat where every opinion matters.
Kelly loves e*Trade baby’s latest commercial – He made his debut spitting up in front of almost 100 million people during last year’s Super Bowl, “underestimated the creepiness” of a clown he hired with extra cash from his e*Trade profits and organizes cuddle battles with “Bad Girl” via his blackberry. This year the lovable e*Trade baby and his pals are back with “outtakes” that didn’t make the cut for his latest commercial. Love him or hate him, the ads are hilarious and have been hugely successful. Check out his latest commercial!
Kirsty loves hashtags – To archive our Super Bowl Talkies chatting, we’re adding “#superbowltalkies” tags to the end of each of our tweets. You can see our Twitter thread by visiting the Hashtags website or Twemes.com.
Shawn loves Food Network’s enthusiasm for the Super Bowl – Lets face it Super Bowl Sunday and food go hand in hand. Everything I watched this past week had to do with the upcoming Super Bowl. Top Chef had the “Top Chef Bowl” complete with sponsors such as Quaker Oats. Biggest Loser had a segment on healthy alternative during the Super Bowl. The Hass Avocado Board has been running great commercials on how to pick and prepare avocados. The most recent shows how to prepare a guacamole dip that looks like a football field, complete with sour cream yard lines and cherry tomatoes as players. Yum!
Susan loves Monster.com’s Director of Fandemonium contest – This great stunt from the online career finder will give one fan the job of a lifetime. At the two-minute warning prior to halftime in this Sunday’s big game, viewers will learn how one lucky fan can win the chance to earn the “Best job in the NFL” complete with a $100,000 signing bonus.
It’s the kind of thing you see in the movies. Snowden’s Jewelers on S. College Road is playing Santa this year for residents of Wilmington. The store will be randomly distributing wrapped gifts, ranging in value from $20 to $100, around town up until Christmas Eve. Each bow-topped box will bear a note saying “Finder’s keepers compliments of Snowden’s Jewelers,” and the store simply asks that whomever finds the presents, enjoys them. Kudos to Snowden’s for adding a little whimsy to these tough economic times.
