Great Clips Promo is a Cut Above

Friday, September 11th, 2009

images-1Tom and Kathleen Barber, owners of the Wilmington area Great Clips franchise, are celebrating the opening of their 14th Great Clips salon by offering $3.99 haircuts from September 12-18. Wow! I can’t even buy lunch for $3.99.

Their creative — and generous — Grand Opening promotion couldn’t come at a better time. All of us are pinching pennies during this economic downturn (I’m in PR — it hurts to call it a recession.) So saving a few bucks on essentials like a good haircut is a welcome gift from two business people who have proven their generosity to the Wilmington community again and again. And the Great Clips employees get into the generosity act too. In addition to providing stylish haircuts, staffers often volunteer time to raise funds for local charities like the New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Women and Children’s Hospital and Locks of Love.

If you need a good haircut, check out the new Great Clips at 348 South College Road. No appointment is necessary – just walk in. The salon is located in the University Centre Shopping Center next to Payless. Hours are Monday thru Friday 9:00 am - 9:00 pm; Saturday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm; Sunday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Now take the money you saved and donate it to your favorite local charity. One good deed deserves another!

Things We Love 8/5

Debbie loves Great Clips’ man-on-the-street marketing on Racine Drive – As I drive to work each morning, I’m entertained by someone (typically a college-age man or woman) waving a Great Clips sign encouraging me to get a haircut for $12. Every time I go by them, it brings a smile to my face. Today I waved at the man and he gave me a thumbs up. Just a little gesture, but it made me feel good about the Great Clips brand. I hope it encourages others to get a haircut.

Jennifer loves Organize.com –  For someone who loves all things organized, I have no idea how I’ve not come across this simply named website before.  I recently saw Organize.com mentioned in Country Living magazine, and had to check it out.  They offer organizing solutions for home, office, school, crafts and travel.  Not to mention their ideas for registries and gift giving.  There is even an eco-friendly line of items.  The products are affordable, plus they offer a clearance section.  Can’t wait to begin my next project!

Nathan loves the newly released mozbar – For anyone who does a lot of SEO and spends time analyzing competing pages or client pages, this is a great time saver. A bonus thing I love is also SEOmoz, who created the Mozbar. They’re one of the best sources online for SEO information.

Shawn loves The New York Times “How Groups Spend Their Day” interactive graphic – I love charts and graphs almost as much as I love floorplans and this graphic is no exception. It tracks the daily activities of Americans over the age of 15 during 2008. When they sleep, eat & work as well as household activities and the all important sleep. Be sure to click through all the demographics.

Susan loves Loss Cat – The first thing you notice when you walk into Talk are four cat paintings hanging above our seating area. The colors are vibrant and fun, and the cat pictured looks a little crazed. When I decided to buy a cat for myself, I had no idea of the phenomenon behind the Loss Cat. The artist, R. Land, takes you through the inspiration behind “Speckles” on his website. I’m anxiously awaiting my blue cat print but was lucky enough to get to speak with R. Land yesterday about the shipping timeline. I can’t say enough nice things about him. He has gone out of his way to make my experience with Loss Cat a wonderful one.
