It’s no secret that President Obama embraced technology during his presidential campaign. It is also no secret that his use of technology gave him an advantage over his competition by connecting him to a younger, untapped generation of voters. In an attempt to gain back some of that support, the GOP has joined the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
Until October 2008, it was illegal for Congress members to use third-party sites, such as Twitter. But all that changed when the Sunlight Foundation campaigned for the right to use social media as a way to keep the public informed. Congressman John Culberson R-Texas has been known to take his BlackBerry with him to the House floor. He told ABCNews.com “If we are conducting the public’s business, it is our obligation as representatives to shine sunlight in every nook and cranny of that meeting.” Who knew Twitter could be so socially responsible?











NBC News’ Matt Lauer has scored perhaps the biggest interview of his career. On Sunday, Lauer will chat with President Obama in his first live interview from the White House since his inauguration on January 20.
