Debbie loves WHQR-FM, our local National Public Radio station – On my way to and from work I get to hear insightful, in-depth reporting on a wide variety of topics, from politics to pop music. It’s a great, easy way for me to stay informed and make good use of the commute into work. I get at least one or more great trend or story ideas from WHQR that I apply to work each week. And I don’t have to listen to all that crazy DJ chatter! Go talk radio!
Kirsty loves that Barack Obama is texting his V.P. pick to his supporters before announcing it publicly (sign up here). The 2008 election will go down in history for forever changing the way our politicians communicate with us. Whether you’re a Republican, Democrat or Independent, you can surely appreciate how technology is lifting the veil on our democratic process.
Kelly loves U2’s “Window in the Skies” Video – This video features a compilation of music legends like Elvis, Sinatra and Hendrix in a jam session, their lips in perfect sync with the song’s lyrics. The best part of this video, aside from its ingenuity, is that an advertising agency created it! Modernista, a fun and funky Boston agency, has a reputation for taking out-of-the-box thinking ten steps further. I can’t wait to see what they will create next!
Kristen loves Visa’s Michael Phelps commercial – The Visa commercial came on Saturday night right after Michael Phelps won his eighth Olympic event. The imagery is amazing and it really showed Phleps’ power, plus is congratulated him for his eighth gold medal. We knew he would do it…nice planning Visa.
Lindsay loves MySpace – I know that social media buffs will scoff and say Facebook is far superior, but I’m still a loyal MySpace user. I love the personalization and design features it has to offer. I’m a layout junky and use each new layout to set a theme incorporating music, photos and quotes. This is one user who won’t be taking down her MySpace page any time soon. http://www.myspace.com/
Natalie loves Caffe Phoenix – Me and my husband are total coffee snobs. We’ve visited most all coffee shops in town, with only a select few passing the test. We recently had Sunday brunch at Caffe Phoenix, where I ordered my usual latte. I tried not to get my hopes up, but to my surprise, it was excellent! I would call this Wilmington’s best kept secret for a good cup of joe. Plus, if you sit outside at a cafe table, you feel like you’re at a quaint cafe in Europe. Great atmosphere and location!
Susan loves Vitamin Water – I must confess, I don’t drink because it’s full of vitamins or because celebrities endorse the different flavors. But most days a bottle of Formula 50 (rapper 50 cent’s flavor) or Energy (songstress Carrie Underwood’s flavor) can be found on my desk. If the celebrities don’t grab your attention, the witty writing on the bottles (geared toward the young and hip) will. As they say, “For best results, stick it in the fridge.”
